we recount the fact that the opposition of the Democratic Republic of Congo has planned a sit-in for this Thursday 25th May in Kinshasa/Gombe to denounce clientelism by the CENI (National Independent Electoral Commission).
Martin Fayulu Madidi has boycotted the decision of the Kinshasa City Hall and has invited Congolese to the sit-in, considering that the « tricks » from Mr. Kadima in favour of M. Félix Tshisekedi must be stopped. The Vice-Gouverneur of Kinshasa Gécoco Mulumba instead rejected the organisation of the event.
This Thursday, 25th of May will be a critical date in the Democratic Republic of Congo as an opposition demonstration is scheduled in front of the CENI headquarters, as a means of opposing the « clientelism » of the commission.
The leader of the opposition, Martin Fayulu Madidi, has tweeted his invitation for massive participation while Gécoco Mulumba, Vice-Gouverneur of Kinshasa City Province, has rejected the organisation of the sit-in in his correspondence.
This event appears to be an important step for the Democratic Republic of Congo, as the opposition will claim a hold on the democratic process and object to any potential « trickery » that may disadvantage the electoral process.
