is proud to tell you that a new maize harvesting season has just begun in the Haut-Katanga Province. On Wednesday, June 7th 2023, the National Minister of Agriculture, José Mpanda, officially opened the 2022-2023 maize season at the Ferme Terra arable estate.
Located around 80 km away from Lubumbashi on the Kasenga highway, the Ferme Terra estate boasts 2000 hectares of maize fields and, according to its public relations director, Grace Kabang, it is expected to produce up to 14 000 tons of maize this season.
Minister Mpanda showed great satisfaction with the assistance given by the Haut-Katanga local government to major agricultural operators in terms of inputs, and praised this initiative aiming to fight the cornflour shortage on the Lubumbashi market.
He then proceeded to visit the Ferme Terra for a complete overview of operations, and is now heading to the Africa Milling milling, where large amounts of maize are transformed into flour. He reasserted his commitment to support this private enterprise.
