RD Congo: Les Manifestations de l’Opposition Se poursuivent le 13 Mai, Malgré le Report par le Gouverneur de Kinshasa

is talking about Devos Kitoko, Secretary General of the ECIDE, who wished to respond to the Kinshasa Governor’s decision to postpone the march initially scheduled for Saturday, May 13. According to him, Mr. Ngobila could not exercise such a power because the constitution authorizes him, in Article 26, only a knowledge of the demonstrations and to put in place the necessary safety measures for the protection of participants.

Devos Kitoko’s words were as follows: “The Governor Ngobila did not organize this march. His role, as stipulated in Article 26 of our Constitution, is to be informed of the planned demonstrations and to put in place the necessary security measures to protect the participants. He can not decide to postpone the march, this is not within his purview.” He added that this decision of the Governor to postpone the march was an affront to the organizers of the march and accused the Vice Prime Minister of the Interior and Security of having incited the Governor to take this decision.

Moreover, Kitoko mentioned Lisanga Bonganga and Gecko Beya of Vision Fatshi, who claim to have filed a march request for the same date, calling them puppets orchestrated by Peter Kazadi to create confusion. “We will not be fooled, » he insisted.

It should be noted that the opposition march initially scheduled for May 13, was postponed to May 18 by Governor Gentiny Ngobila for security reasons.
